Winter has been and gone, now it’s about time we all got a spring in our step. Perth is about to burst into bloom, and we’ve got the lowdown on where exactly to see the prettiest petals through the city this wildflower season.

Victoria Gardens, East Perth

Nestled down by the river and on the edge of Claisebrook Cove, Victoria Gardens is a lush green space that is popular with families. Enjoy the stunning views over the river to the Optus Stadium, or visit one of the many cafes and restaurants just along the river to make a day of your wildflower experience.

King's Park

An obvious one, but Perth’s landmark park really is the best spot to see wildflower season in all its glory. With over 1500 different species of wildflowers to see and dozens of paths bursting with blooms, Kings Park is the first place you should try if you want to embrace the beauty of the burgeoning spring season.

Hay and Murray Street Malls

Wildflower season isn’t all about parks and green spaces; the more urban parts of our city come into bloom, too. Planter boxes line Hay and Murray Street malls and offer a colourful display for shoppers and visitors.

Harold Boas Gardens, West Perth

A popular spot for wedding ceremonies, this green oasis is nestled at the heart of West Perth and boasts cascading rock waterfalls, a winding lake and a bridge crossing. Sit and soak up the tranquillity in among the urban surrounds or bring the family and explore the flower beds and plant-lined trails to see what you can find.

Queens Gardens, East Perth

Don’t let the well-maintained lawns and picture-perfect ponds fool you; Queens Gardens in East Perth still has a wild side. With an old-fashioned bandstand and wide-open green lawns, this is the perfect spot to take the family exploring all the wonders of the natural world.

Heirisson Island

A natural oasis among the sprawl of the city, Heirisson Island boasts kangaroos, serene lakes and stunning views. Take a picnic and make it a day trip, so you can leave yourself plenty of time to explore the beautiful surrounds and take in those gorgeous river views. Don't forget to keep your distance from the local fauna!
