Candlelight: Best of Fleetwood Mac and More
Perth Town Hall
Friday, 13th January 2023
If you’ve never been to a Candlelight event you should definitely rectify that this new year. Candlelight takes the work of our favourite artists and arranges their music in a classical format. Performed in unexpected spaces and surrounded by hundreds of candles, the result is breathtaking. I went to their BTS concert last year and it was magical, and I can only imagine that their Fleetwood Mac concert will be no different. Hear some of music’s most iconic songs like Go Your Own Way, Dreams and Songbird in a completely new way as played by two pianists and a celloist to give a truly multi-sensory experience.

Marty Mone Australian Tour
Badlands Bar
Friday, 20th January 2023
Get some craic into ya’ with Irish folk-rock singer and songwriter Marty Mone. The Irishman makes his way to Australia for a national tour that is going to be a rollicking affair. Marty is what we’d call a country boy, driving tractors and playing the guitars from an early age. Working the land during the week, to working the stage on the weekend Marty honed in his songwriting to release the hit Hit the Diff. His music is uplifting and bright and harks back to a simple feeling of throwing your troubles away. Marty has the musicality and tempo of Jake Bugg and the lyrical style of Frank Turner, so if you like your folk rock with a jagged edge, this concert shouldn’t be missed.

Postmodern Jukebox:
Prohibition Party!
The Ellington Jazz Club
Wednesday 25th January 2023
If you’ve ever been to a concert or show hosted by Claire Fahie you know that she’s a special performer. She’s a little bit of a chameleon chanteuse and this time she’s bringing back the roaring 1920s with a twist. Based on Scott Bradlee’s famous Postmodern Jukebox, Claire will take contemporary songs and flip them like fringe on a flapper dress with a big band, jazz twist. Given that this is the night before Australia Day, let yourself go and have some mid-week frivolity. You may even hear some of your favourite dance tunes like Beyonce, ABBA and Meghan Trainor.

Comeback Kid with special guests Drain
Amplifier Bar
Saturday, 28th January 2023
Amplifier Bar is roaring back with fierce local and international hardcore artists gracing their stage. This gig is a big one for the venue, with legendary Canadian metalcore and punk rock group Comeback Kid returning for a national tour. The last time they toured Australia was three years ago and this time they’re bringing mates, Drain from Santa Cruz. Comeback Kid’s music is furious and rhythm driven but also melodic which gives their music an earworm effect. Expect a show from one of the industry’s craziest live performers that will have you sweating and feeling an all-time high energy.
