February is the month for music lovers in Perth, with an abundance of concerts and gigs happening throughout the city. From the annual return of Fringe World and Perth Festival to local artists gigging at venues, there's something for everyone. Here are five of the best events happening this month:

Frank By Frankie: A Celebration of Amy Winehouse

During last year’s Fringe, this show had people buzzing with jazz vocalist and WAAPA graduate Francesca Quinlivan’s (Frankie) entertaining take on the music of Amy Winehouse. Her jazz-driven vocal performances lend themselves brilliantly to the deep, bluesy tone of Winehouse’s voice. This year she’s back to explore the illustrious singer’s too-short catalogue. If you love your jazz music, don’t wait too long to decide, because Frankie sold out her shows last season and you’re not going to want to miss out on this sultry set.

Perturbator

Magnet House

If you are a darkwave or synth-wave fan then gear up because one of the world's most exciting artists is heading to Perth. French producer Perturbator is touring Australia and he’s set to give a wicked set in the perfect venue of Magnet House. His music is transcendental with a futuristic, industrial edge and cinematic tempo that hooks you in from the first few bars of his tracks. If Daft Punk is the Father of French electro-house, Perturbator is his misunderstood and mischievous nephew. Be transported through a wild electronic soundscape when he performs this February.

It’s been a long, overdue time since indie legends Future Islands last graced our shores. Their last tour was back in 2017 and it’s exciting to again have the chance to check out the foursome promote their latest album As Long As You Are. A band for a generation, for Gen X'ers Bikini Kill needs no introduction. The absolute legends of feminist punk rock who formed back in 1990 are heading West to unleash their hardcore punk sound. During a time dominated by male groups and perspectives, Bikini Kill fiercely addressed everything from politics to sexual assault and female issues. No wonder then they’re often cited by musicians as a vital musical influence. A must-see gig for any music fan this one is going to shake you to your core.

Badlands Bar

Perth loves Chaos Divine. The heavy metal and progressive band have been delivering solid music for over 15 years. This month they are heading to Badlands Bar to celebrate the tenth anniversary of their epic album The Human Connection. All nine tracks will be played along with a curated list of favourites picked by the band to create a show that is going to make you believe in the power of hard rock again. Their music is melodic and visceral so even if you aren’t familiar with the genre, you are gonna be entranced by these players who have mastered their performance.
