Drinks
A bevy of new places to grab a bevvy have appeared in the city lately, giving you heaps of reasons to stick around after a day in the office or get in early before a dinner date. Don’t miss any of these new bars in Perth…
When CRUSH and honey opened in September, they completed the multi-venue mega-pub that is Pirate Life Perth on Murray Street. CRUSH is all about the retro pastels, cacti and cocktails, while honey (tucked in the basement below) is a more moody space offering a rum-centric drinks list and Caribbean-inspired bites.
Terrarium Bar just off St Georges Terrace is a walk-in only, multi-level venue offering a creative cocktail list and appetising bar bites among lush surroundings. Head up to their rooftop terrace to make the most of Perth’s balmy evenings while sipping on creations like the Strawberry Field or the Little Coconut.
Ruin Bar has turned a long-neglected site on the corner of Beaufort and Newcastle Streets into a beer-lovers’ haven. From DJs to a smokin’ Sunday BBQ, there’s always something happening at this casual hangout. They’ve just celebrated their first birthday, so if you haven’t got around to checking it out yet, it’s about time.
At the other end of town, Phat Brew Club have recently opened the doors to their West Perth brewery, with 16 taps featuring their own beers and other local craft brews. This 400-person venue is dog-friendly and kid-friendly so you can hit it up on the weekend with the whole fam - and being conveniently positioned just across from City West train station, it’s also a perfect after-work spot for drinks with a crowd of colleagues.
Dinner
Tummies rumbling? Time for dinner at one of Perth’s newest restaurants…
The team behind Italian Street Kitchen in Raine Square has scoured Rome and the regions of Italy to produce a delicious menu showcasing specialties from across the country. Their food combines traditional recipes with contemporary techniques. Think fresh pasta made in-house daily, and pizza dough fermented for 48 hours before being topped with premium ingredients and wood-fired. Mamma mia!
Miss Mi on Murray St is a trendy new small bar and restaurant. Their food pairs hyper-local produce with an homage to traditional Asian techniques and spices to create a unique Aussie-Filipino menu. And they’ve paid careful attention to the drinks list too, with an Asian-inspired cocktail list (featuring their own signature gin created by a Perth distillery) and one of the city’s largest collections of no alcohol beverages.
Just seeking something casual? Right next to Ruin Bar, Pretty Good Pizza offers hot, cheesy goodness for dine-in or takeaway. You can even order their pizzas from Ruin if you get peckish while having a drink! With pumping tunes, pizzas available whole or by the slice, and a beer vending machine, this is the perfect spot to grab an easy dinner in the city.
Finally, this one’s not new, but CBD workers will warmly welcome the recent return of fabulous eats and drinks at Print Hall and Bob’s Bar after several months’ closure. The four-story complex in Brookfield Place is under new ownership and major renovations are being planned for later in the year, but in the meantime they’re open for business with an extensive beverage list and a modern Australian food menu on offer.
