The Perth International Jazz Festival is making its return to town this year with a lineup of exciting events taking place throughout Perth City. The festivities start on Saturday, October 7th, so be sure to explore the numerous talented artists gracing us with their presence this month. And if jazz isn't your cup of tea, there are plenty of other options to choose from – whether you want to see an Australian legend perform, rock out to some heavy metal, or support a promising local band.

The Perth International Jazz Festival kicks off in sophisticated style bringing a little bit of New York’s nightlife to Perth. A collaboration between Brookfield Place and PIJF has produced a launch that you won’t want to miss and best of all, it’s free! Starting from 5pm you can catch groups playing swing, contemporary jazz and blues folk. Choose from 950 Marching Band, The Lachlan Glover Trio, Lucy Iffla and Matthew Gudgeon, Kristian Borring Trio, Allira Wilson and Harry Mitchell or The Late Night Organ Donors. Tina Arena: “Love Saves” World Tour

The sensational Tina Arena graces the Perth Concert Hall performing new songs and also legendary hits. With her seventh English language studio album, “Love Saves”, she’s bringing a fresh wave of passion and enchantment to Perth audiences. Her powerful vocals are world-renowned plus she has loads of charismatic stage presence that has made her a favourite from her Young Talent Time days to her rebirth in the 1990s. From her new work to anthems like “Sorrento” and “Chains”, Arena’s amazing voice is one that has made her a favourite with groups like Client Liaison.

Soup: “Fools Gold” Single Launch

Soup are one of Perth’s newer players to the music scene having formed in 2022. All five of the band members are WAAPA students who have come together to serve up a tantalising sound of funk, rock and new wave that sits left-of-centre. They released their first single “Dream” was a surprisingly melancholic, introspective funk-driven song that delighted as much as it intrigued. Soup are currently working on their album but in the meantime check them out as they support their latest single “Fools Gold”.

The heavy metal band fuses electrifying alt-rock and post-hardcore elements that deliver a world of emotional intensity and sonic grandeur. Think 30 Seconds to Mars jamming out with Royal Blood, and you’ll have the vibe of Thornhill. The stage show promises to be epic with special guests Holding Absence (UK), Thousand Below (USA) and Bloom adding fuel to the fire as support.
