Sundowner Sessions
Picabar
We’re thrilled that Picabar is still truly alive and kicking. More of your classic pub vibe, this place is certainly the perfect first pitstop after a hectic week of work. If the weather is nice, sit outside in their beautiful courtyard and get some good old chips to fuel the tank. We suggest getting the watermelon vodka – it’s like summer in a pint glass.
Mechanics Institute
It’s beer, cocktails and rooftop sundowners galore here at Mechanics Institute. Having been voted WA’s best small bar in 2015, we can definitely see why – the staff are knowledgeable and friendly, the food is fantastic, the drinks are divine, and the vibes are immaculate. Do yourself a favour and grab a cold pint here after work this week.
North Bird and The Bird
North Bird and The Bird North Bird is the place to be after work. Bang on William Street, you can take a seat in the dining room or simply enjoy a beautiful glass of organic wine at the bar. You can also hop next door to The Bird for their free live music every Friday night! Hint: bring your dancing shoes.
Party Time
Henry Summer
Hello Summer indeed! This is for all the party animals out there. A massive, leafy and all-round beautiful location is what you’ll find at Henry Summer. They do great bites, great cocktails, and they serve up immaculate vibes too. Grab a cocktail pitcher and hit the dancefloor with your friends – there’s a club-like courtyard back, plus a live DJ over the weekend, and we promise it won’t disappoint.
The Standard
We are obsessed with The Standard! It’s been around for a little while now, and we’re so glad they’re here to stay. Head into the main bar for a bite to eat (hint, the food is AMAZING), or pop to the outdoor bar and have a boogie or take a seat. We’re loving their rooftop area which is perfect for functions, or if you love a good view. We’d recommend any of the cocktails here – they really quench a Friday night thirst for a good time.
Late Night Nooks
Palace Arcade
If you’re looking for something fun to do this Friday night with a twist, we’d recommend hitting up the games at Palace Arcade. Take it back to the late 20th century and get competitive with this seriously cool collection of vintage arcade games. Chicken wings, giant pizza slices and tasty cocktails await you.
Shadow Wine Bar
This place oozes class, and it’s no wonder that this is a go-to for many. Right in the heart of Northbridge, Shadow Wine Bar is dimly lit with beautiful décor and outstanding service. There’s an abundance of delectable choices on the wine list, but it doesn’t end here. Take a seat and dine on a mouth-watering menu, or kick back for the night and keep the drinks flowing.
Bar Lafayette
Tucked inside a heritage-listed building on St George’s Terrace is where you’ll find Bar Lafayette. It’s cocktails and whisky galore here: however, you can’t leave without grabbing a bite from their delectable food menu. Enjoy some mushroom and truffle arancini and crab toast with their Watermelon Millionaire cocktail (rum, gin, apricot brandy, lime and watermelon). How divine!
Petition Wine Merchant and Beer Corner
Inside the grand and gorgeous State Buildings (perched bang on the corner of St George’s Terrace and Barrack Street) is Petition Wine Bar and Merchant, and the Petition Beer Corner. Each place designed for wine and beer aficionados alike, the choices are endless at both spots. They’re chilled, sophisticated, and very, very cool. Ask the staff anything – they’ll find the perfect drink for you.
