With six weeks till Christmas, it’s time to get festive - and get those gift lists sorted. Shopping at markets is a great way to find quality presents and decorations that are locally made by creative small businesses. And the City has you covered with weekend, weekday and evening markets galore! So here’s a roundup of Christmas markets in Perth in 2024 to hit up for gift shopping (and a good dose of festive food).

Perth Upmarket

Start tackling your shopping list at the Perth Upmarket this Sunday 17th November from 10am to 4pm. It’s Perth’s biggest design market, featuring over 200 stallholders and thousands of gorgeous gift ideas. Wander through The University of Western Australia’s stunning Winthrop Hall and lush lawns exploring the range of clothes, jewellery and accessories, homewares and art, gourmet treats and more. Trust me, you’ll need at least a couple of hours to explore everything on offer!

Lunchtime Christmas market pop-ups

Need to squeeze gift buying into your lunch break? The City’s office towers have you covered with pop-up mini markets all around town over the next few weeks. Block out time in your calendar now to hit up one of these handy events:

Brookfield Place Christmas Markets from Tuesday 19th to Thursday 21st November, 11am to 2pm
The Merry Market Place in the foyer at QV1 on Tuesday 26th and Thursday 28th November from 10.30am to 2pm
Central Park Christmas Markets on Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th December from 11am to 2pm

Summer night markets for shopping and entertainment

For family-friendly fun, head to Markets @ The Quay Christmas Edition at Elizabeth Quay on Saturday 23rd November from 3pm to 8pm. As well as 60 stalls for another spot of gift shopping, there’ll be live music and activities like face painting and ornament decorating, plus a visit from Santa.

Next up is the Christmas Twilight Perth Makers Market on Friday 29th November from 4pm to 9pm in the Supreme Court Gardens. Enjoy a balmy evening dining on delicious food truck fare and browsing 80+ stalls featuring the work of talented local artisans and creators.

And of course, it wouldn’t be the Christmas season without a whole lot of feasting. The City’s ever-popular Twilight Food Market is back, running every Friday from 4.30pm to 9.30pm (alongside late-night shopping for many CBD retailers). Forrest Place fills with the tempting scents of street food from across the globe and the sounds of festive entertainment.

Don’t miss the Rio Tinto Christmas Lights Trail while you’re in the City. Lighting up the streets every night from Friday 22nd November to New Year’s Day, it features 20 glowing installations spanning from Yagan Square to Elizabeth Quay.

All of these evening events are located within walking distance of train stations, bus stops and the ferry terminal. Or if you drive into the City, you can enjoy free night-time parking after 6pm in City of Perth Parking car parks and street parking.
