Looking for the newest additions to Perth City’s eating and drinking scene? From brekky bagels to global cuisines, cocktail dens to sky-high rooftop bars, here are 10 recently-opened cafes, restaurants and bars you must try in Perth in 2024.

Cafes

Bagels are having a moment in Perth right now. Firstly, there’s Deli Gabe, which opened on Murray Street late last year. Launched by Alex, a chef who’s worked in fine dining restaurants in Sydney and Perth, Deli Gabe is all about bringing you positive vibes and nutritious, delicious meals every day. Serving bagels, toasties and breakfast, their dishes feature classic flavours with fun twists - there’s tom yum scrambled eggs, a tuna melt with kimchi and a bacon & egg bagel with gochujang maple.

Secondly, there’s Neighbourhood Bagel on the corner of St Georges Terrace and King Street, with New York City retro diner vibes. Eight is the magic number here: choose your combo from eight bagel options and eight cream cheese flavours (that makes 64 possibilities!) for just $8. You could go savoury (like a parmesan and thyme bagel with sun-dried tomato and olive schmear) or sweet (blueberry on blueberry… yes please). After something more substantial? Filled bagels range from $15 to $19, with options like Reuben and buffalo chicken.

Restaurants

Perth’s Elizabeth Quay has just welcomed two new waterfront fine dining locations. For serious meat-lovers, there’s steakhouse 6HEAD, with a menu of premium Black Angus and Wagyu steaks sourced from across the country (not to mention a selection of caviar and oysters). And then there’s Lantern on the Quay, offering contemporary Cantonese cuisine with a focus on seafood. You’ll be enveloped in a cosy lantern-like warmth as you enter their dining space adorned in red and gold.

Stampa! is a new addition to an old favourite, adding to the dining options in the recently reopened Print Hall in Brookfield Place. The restaurant is bringing authentic regional Italian dishes that you won’t find anywhere else in Perth to the CBD. All the pasta is made in house, and there’s an all-Italian wine list to wash it down.

Perth has been blessed with the first overseas outpost of Rojiura Curry Samurai, a Japanese restaurant serving Hokkaido soup curry. Head to Shafto Lane to choose a curry type packed with up to 17 kinds of veg (plus chicken or pork); a soup base flavour; your spice level; rice portion; and optional toppings. Pair it with a wine or beer from Hokkaido.

Over by UWA in Crawley, West Kitchen & Bar has opened in the Wonil Hotel, with a prime position on the river’s edge. Visit for breakfast, lunch or dinner. There’s a focus on West Australian ingredients - Harvey beef, Rottnest hiramasa, Margaret River chocolate and more. The drinks list also showcases WA wines, beers and spirits. Walk it off with a wander along Matilda Bay foreshore or Mounts Bay Road afterwards.

Bars

From the team behind Foxtrot Unicorn, Edward & Ida’s on William Street in Northbridge has an eclectic style harking back to the building’s origins as a 1930s theatre. Pop in for a Cookie Old Fashioned or a Hemingway Highball, and munch on the menu of bar snacks and meals where old-school Britishness meets modern (think curried scotch eggs, cheddar-filled doughnuts and beef & guinness pie).

Folly is a new rooftop bar at Quest East Perth offering expansive views of the city from level 18. You’ll find creative cocktails like the Enchanted Folly and the Sweet Berry Spritz, plus share plates to enjoy while admiring the river and skyline.

Finally, wine nerds and novices alike will delight in Enoteca Centro, tucked away on Wesley Lane. “Part wine bar, part cellar door, part knowledge hub”, it’s all about the joy of tasting and learning about wine - without snobbery. The wine list comprises over 130 drops from more than 50 wine regions around the world, and there’s a menu of European-inspired seasonal share plates.
