From nearby suburbs, many trips take under 25 minutes – and from West or East Perth, often less than 10.
Connected routes into the CBD
Several established shared paths provide convenient, largely separated access into the City:
- Swan River Shared Path linking South Perth and Victoria Park via Riverside Drive and Elizabeth Quay
- Perth–Fremantle Principal Shared Path connecting Subiaco and West Leederville alongside the rail line
- Mitchell Freeway PSP linking Leederville, North Perth and beyond
- Kings Park Road Shared Path offering a direct route from West Perth
These routes allow riders to complete most of their journey on dedicated infrastructure before transitioning into the city street network. They’re also popular with e-scooters and other micromobility devices, particularly for shorter trips.
Easy places to park
Convenience matters just as much as connectivity.
Bike parking is available throughout the CBD, including at:
- Elizabeth Quay and Barrack Square
- Forrest Place
- Yagan Square
- Entrances to Murray Street and Hay Street Mall
- Perth Station and Perth Underground
- London Court
- ECU City Campus
These racks make it easy to stop in for errands, meetings or a quick visit. Many also accommodate e-scooters and other small electric rides.
For those commuting regularly, many office buildings across the city offer secure bike storage, showers and lockers, making the end of your ride just as easy as the start.
Delivering on the Bike Plan
The City of Perth’s Bike Plan 2025–2035 is focused on strengthening key routes, improving safety and enhancing wayfinding and end-of-trip facilities across the CBD.
The goal is simple: make cycling a practical, everyday transport choice – not just a recreational one.
