6 min read
The Heritage Wine Bar
Wine, glorious wine. We drink it to taste its different, delicious notes; we drink it to wind down after a long day; but most of all, we drink it because it’s so darn good. And us West Aussies do our wines pretty well, if we do say so ourselves.

With the Perth hospitality scene absolutely booming right now (we are so lucky to have such amazing venues popping up all the time!), what better time than to suss out the top wine bars in the CBD?

So, sit tight and keep reading to find out your new local for a cheeky red (or white, or anything, whatever takes your fancy).

Perth CBD

Petition Wine Merchant

The State Buildings is a classic, beautiful venue that just keeps getting better. Having recently renovated to become even more stunning, classic, elegant and timeless, at Petition Wine Merchant there’s an abundance of seriously fantastic wines here. Take a seat and enjoy a paired cheese board to go with your wine. With a choice between reds, whites, naturals, bubbles,
oranges (you name it, they’ve got it), you’re spoiled for choice.

Heritage Wine Bar

If you’re really into your international drops, then this one’s for you. Sitting pretty in Brookfield Place is Heritage, the suave and oh-so-chic wine bar and takeaway store we all adore. Dine from the a la carte or set menus with your paired wine from the whopping wine list. We’re talking pages and pages of wine from all of Australia, France, New Zealand, the United States, Italy,
Spain, and so many more.

Lalla Rookh

Hearty pasta, comfy chairs and top-notch wines await you at Lalla Rookh. Down the stairs on St. George’s Terrace, you can take a seat in the main restaurant or head out to the enoteca style wine tasting room. Treat yourself to a bottle from the extensive wine list (we’re talking over 300 labels), curated by Sommelier Jeremy Prus, which you can either take home or open there and then to sip on. Pair it with one of the divine pasta dishes from the kitchen, and you’re set for the night.

Bar Lafayette

For a little history, why not check out Bar Lafayette for your next wine-fuelled adventure? Beautifully positioned inside the heritage-listed 1910 Perth Technical School building, they create artisan cocktails in stunning spaces. Take a seat on the gorgeous armchairs and order a glass of Riesling straight from Germany. Go on, you deserve it.

Bobeche

Smack bang in the basement of Brookfield Place is where you’ll find Bobeche. It’s the perfect place for a cozy date or a group hangout: with dimly lit interiors and late-night bites, head down from Tuesday-Saturday for a chilled night filled with good food and wine. With bar bites coming straight from the awesome kitchen at Heritage Wine Bar, 4pm to 6pm is the time to be there, as they’re offering up $10 wines and cheeky little cocktails.

Northbridge

Shadow Wine Bar

Shadow Wine Bar is slick, sexy, and very, very cool. A popular date spot but also perfect for groups, it’s situated at the base of The Alex Hotel. They continue to smash it out of the park by serving up delicious, elegant dishes with a seemingly never-ending list of excellent wines. Sit back, relax, and soak in the sophisticated vibes here. Just don’t blame us when you walk out having sipped on a few more glasses than you originally planned, just to get a taste of the amazing wine list!

No Mafia

An absolutely classic spot in Northbridge, No Mafia is the place to be when it comes to delicious bites to eat and a seriously good wine. Sitting pretty looking over William Street, the outdoor seating allows you to watch the world go by, sipping on a gorgeous glass. With a curated Italian wine list and delicious nibbles like olives, fresh Bread in Common loaves, burrata and salumi, this is the Italian escape right on your doorstep you didn’t know you needed.

North Bird

Next door to funky live music venue, The Bird, is the North Bird. It’s a triple threat: boasting a wine store, fine dining restaurant and bar, and it’s bang on William Street. You can take a seat in the dining room or simply enjoy a beautiful glass of organic wine at the bar.
