Australia Day 2025
Reflect. Respect. Celebrate. in the city this Australia Day at the Hancock Prospecting Australia Day Celebrations. From 3pm, Langley Park will host an array of vibrant entertainment, with fun for all ages and adrenaline levels. An awesome spectacle of fireworks and drones will light up Perth’s skyline and wow crowds from 8:30pm.
The Birak Concert will take place on Supreme Court Gardens with a jam-packed stage program showcasing local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander talent from 3pm to 7:30pm.
Australia Day also marks the City of Perth’s largest Citizenship Ceremony where this year we welcome 60 new Australian citizens hailing from 31 countries across the world to their new home. The Ceremony will also honour our local heroes through the Community Citizen of the Year Awards.
Families are advised to be aware of road closures and plan their travel to and from the event accordingly. Event attendees are encouraged to make use of Transperth’s Summer Free Travel, more information can be found in the FAQ’s. For those driving into the city, a road closure map and a list of available car parks are provided.

How to Get There
Public Transport
To help you celebrate Australia Day, Transperth will be putting on additional services to get you into the city and back.
This event falls within Transperth’s Summer Free Travel period (14 December to 5 February), and all public transport will be free for SmartRider holders.
To receive free travel this summer, you must tag on at the beginning and tag off at the end of your journey. Not doing so will result in a default fare and possible infringement.

Important: Buses and trains will be busy after the show ensuring you and your family get home safely. Delays are expected, so your patience is appreciated. Offensive and dangerous behaviour will not be tolerated when riding on Transperth services.

ACROD Parking
ACROD Parking is available at Supreme Court of Western Australia south car park, access is via Barrack Street until 2.30pm (unless full prior). Download a copy of the Event Map here.A valid ACROD Parking permit must be presented at the entry point to park in this location. Vehicles may not depart until roads reopen, however ACROD parking will be given a priority exit.

Sensory Space
A Sensory Space is located on the grassed area in front of Terrace Rad carpark (refer to event map for exact location).
This space has dim lighting, fans, bean bags, arts materials and iPads for member of the public to enjoy away from the hustle and bustle of the event. This area will be staffed by DADAA from 3pm to 9pm.
Accessible Viewing Area
Birak Concert
The Birak Concert will have an Accessible Viewing Area at Supreme Court Gardens. Access to this area will be available via matting on the grass (for access and within the viewing area). The Accessible Viewing Area is positioned facing towards the stage, where Auslan interpreters will be visible. Auslan Interpreting services will be available 3pm to 7.30pm.
Hancock Prospecting Australia Day Celebrations
An enclosed Accessible Viewing Area will be located on Riverside Drive Foreshore, providing a non-crowded space for people living with disability in attendance at the Hancock Prospecting Australia Day Celebrations. Auslan interpreting and audio description services for will be available in the Accessible Viewing Area from 8.30pm to 9pm for the light show component of the event.For wheelchair users, please note that a portion of the Accessible Viewing Area is on grass.Wheelchair users can also choose to view the light show from anywhere along Riverside Drive, which is closed to traffic, or the dual footpaths on the foreshore; both of which can be close to friends and family on grass if desired.We advise arriving at the Accessible Viewing Area before 7pm, as areas around the enclosed zone can become crowded and can make it difficult to reach.Auslan Interpreting Services

To Access Audio Description
- Bring your own earphones. Ensure your mobile device has enough charge.
- Download the Sennheiser Mobileconnect App prior to arriving at the venue.
- At the venue prior to the AD show, go to “Settings” on your smart device (iPhone, Android or iPad), select “wifi” and connect to the “DADAA wifi”.
- Once connected to the DADAA wifi network, return to the home screen and then select the Sennheiser MobileConnect App.
- Open the App, and select “Channel One” for Audio Description.
Wheelchair Access (Accessible Matting and Ramps)
Birak Concert
Accessible matting will lead you to accessible toilets and the dedicated accessible viewing area for the Birak Concert.
Hancock Prospecting Australia Day Celebrations
Access to the Sensory Space is available via accessible matting from Victoria Avenue.
Ramps will be provided along Riverside Drive, enabling access from Langley Park and Terrace Road car park grass area to the foreshore when crossing the road.
These locations are marked by flag banners on the city side of the river displaying the universal wheelchair symbol in the locations that have temporary ramps and smooth surfaces. The flag banners will be visible at a distance for people who use a wheelchair.

Lost Child Points
There will be two Lost Persons Points at the event, staffed by the Constable Care Foundation. These points will be located at Langley Park West and Supreme Court Gardens. If you are bringing children to the event, please visit a Lost Persons Point first to ensure a safe and enjoyable day for everyone by picking up a free wristband. Additionally, take note of what everyone in your group is wearing or take a group photo on your mobile device at the start of the event, just in case.
If you lose someone
Please notify the nearest security personnel, police, or event staff and check in at the closest Lost Persons Point. If the missing person is not there, the Constable Care Foundation staff will collaborate with event security to help locate them.
If you find a lost person
If you find a lost person, please escort them to the nearest Lost Persons Point. Alternatively, notify a nearby Police Officer or Security Guide, who can accompany them to the nearest Lost Persons Point. -
First AidTwo First Aid stations will be located at the event, one at Langley Park West and one at Supreme Court Gardens. Please make note of the nearest First Aid Station; locations are pictured on the Event Map.

Be SunSmart!
Free sunscreen can be obtained by visiting the First Aid Posts at Langley Park West and Supreme Court Gardens.
When enjoying the outdoors, it is also important to drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration and heat stroke.
The City of Perth is aiming for an event that is ‘single-use plastic free’ and encourages all patrons to bring their water bottles and refill them at the cool and free drinking water locations throughout the event area.

Drinking Water
Drinking water fountains and water bottle refilling stations are available at the event site. Please refer to the event map for their locations. Bottled water will be available for purchase from food vendors on site, however we encourage patrons to bring their own water bottles.
Waste Stations
Conveniently situated in food areas, you can learn about waste management and sustainability while disposing of your rubbish. Take your trash to the waste stations, where dedicated staff will assist you in sorting and disposing of it correctly, helping to maintain a low-waste event.
And there’ll be plenty of bins located around the event, meaning there will be one close to where you are sitting, walking, playing, or celebrating! Don’t forget to pay attention to the signs on the bins and put your rubbish or recycling in the correct bin.

Parent’s Room & Changing Places
There is a Parent’s Room, available on Langley Park near the Lost Person Point (opposite the Carnival Rides). This space is equipped with baby changing and nursing facilities.
The closest Changing Places facility is located at Elizabeth Quay. Refer to the event map for exact location of the Parent’s Room and Changing Places facility.
Toilets (Including Accessible and All Gender)
There are ample toilet facilities throughout the event site. Please refer to thee vent map for exact locations.

What to Bring:
- Sun protection (hat, sunscreen)
- Water bottle to refill at the free drinking water locations (refer to Event Map for locations)
- A waste-free picnic
- Chairs, eskies and shade structures that can be folded down and carried are all permitted*
Please bring items that can be transported by foot and taken away after the event.
*Any shade equipment is to be dismantled at dusk for optimal light show viewing for all.
Attendees CANNOT bring these items:
- Drones - Drones can cause major public safety issues, so leave your drone at home.
- Large stereos, spas, fridges or other large objects
- Sparklers, BBQ’s and open flames
- Bringing glass objects (glass cups, wine flutes, bottles) are discouraged where possible.
- Please do not bring your pets to this event for the safety of the animal and all those attending the event.
