Fun Fact

Birak [bi-rak] is the first summer of the traditional Noongar calendar. Also known as the ‘season of the young’ and marked when the warm days are cooled by the afternoon sea breezes during the hot and dry seasons (December and January). During this season the Moodjar trees (WA native Christmas tree or Nuytsia floribunda) burst into full bloom in which a mass of golden, yellow-orange flowers can be seen across the Southwest.
