Peace Grove Memorial

Erected in honour of Nobel Peace Prize recipients President Anwar Sadat of Egypt and President Yitzhak Rabin of Israel who gave their lives in pursuit of peace.

The Peace Grove Memorial was opened in 1998.  Muhammad Anwar El Sadat (1918–1981) was the third President of Egypt, serving from 15 October 1970 until his assassination by fundamentalist army officers in 1981.

Yitzhak Rabin (1922–1995) was an Israeli politician, statesman and general. He was Israel’s fifth Prime Minister until his assassination by right-wing extremists in 1995.

The memorial consists of a stone ‘Dove Seat’ and ‘Peace Plinth’. The tranquil memorial area is often used by community groups for commemorations.
