Kakulas Brothers
Evangelos Kakulas (1872–1936) began operating his Mediterranean grocery store in 1929 on the site where Kakulas Bros store continues to thrive today.
The shop became a meeting place for the Greek community and a support network for struggling new arrivals.
By the 1950s the business was importing foods from all over Europe to cater for the increasing numbers of immigrants displaced by World War II.
The business today is still run by descendants of Evangelos Kakulas. Kakulas Bros is known for it’s fantastic herbs and spices, olives, pasta and of course, its coffee beans which are roasted on site.
