Zippy's Bush Kindy

Big adventures for little nature lovers aged 3 to 5 years! Zippy's Bush Kindy is an 8 week program running each school term and is designed to develop children’s confidence and skills to explore the bushland in Rio Tinto Naturescape Kings Park.

In becoming an ‘Explorer of the World’ children will understand and utilise their senses to increase their awareness of self and the environment around them.

Through different nature-based activities and investigations, children are encouraged to explore, pose questions, solve problems, and actively construct knowledge. Each session also aspires for each child to develop a sense of belonging, and connection to nature. We will continue to revisit the same outdoor spaces, becoming familiar and observing the changes over the seasons with the aim of developing a sense of custodianship.

In Term 1 children will:

• have lots of opportunity to play and explore
• develop a positive sense of self and attitude of ‘I can do it’
• use their senses and strengthen observation skills
• learn ways to keep safe in the bush and enjoy the outdoors by assessing and negotiating risk
• develop an awareness of seasonal changes in the environment
• increase their understanding of Noongar language
• grow in empathy and love of nature
