Meet the Museum: Collections, Creativity & Conservation
There are an estimated 20,000 – 30,000 species of moth in Australia. How many have you noticed?
Join artist and environmental scientist Chelsea Hopkins-Allan for a talk exploring how museum collections can inspire creative practice, deepen environmental understanding and reveal the hidden diversity of the natural world.
Drawing on her research within the Western Australian Museum’s moth collection, Chelsea offers a behind-the-scenes insight into the intersection of art, science, and conservation.
Through painting and observation, Chelsea examines how visual art can extend beyond illustration to become a powerful tool for connection and awareness, transforming scientific knowledge into experiences that are felt, remembered and more likely to shape how we value the world around us.
