Kiangardarup - The Torbay Suite

Kiangardarup, meaning kangaroo place, is a uniquely West Australian work by Robert Zielinski for violin, wooden flute, cello and bouzouki, inspired by the Torbay Inlet in WA’s Great Southern region.
Kiangardarup – The Torbay Suite comes from the country of the Minang people. An intensely evocative piece that takes the listener on a journey, from the awakening dawn through the heat of the day, to dusk and a still night spent under the Karri forest and stars. This journey finishes by the coals and flames of a campfire.
The Suite was recorded outside by Robert over the course of a year on the violin he made in Torbay in the very places that inspired the piece.
The album is set for release later in 2024. Images of the inlet will accompany the live performance in this rare opportunity to hear Kiangardarup – The Torbay Suite in its entirety for the first time.
The performance will be followed by a Q&A with the composer and musicians.
