Aqua Nullius: Toe Fai! and Talaucaka
Aqua Nullius: Toe Fai! and Talaucaka
When remembrance becomes resistance.
Step into the fractured future of Aqua Nullius, a speculative futurism play series by Emele Ugavule, where memory, data, and ancestry collide. This double-bill presentation, Toe Fai! and Talaucaka, weaves together two interconnected worlds that imagine futures shaped by ecological collapse and technological empire, drawing from an Indigenous Pacific perspective.
TOE FAI!
Set in an uneasy near future, where the world is completely dependent on western technology Toe Fai! examines how our memories betray, transform, and outlive us.
TALAUCAKA
In Talaucaka, we meet Kalala again - now a decade later - in a future dystopian England after ecological collapse, alongside three other Pacific women.
Together, Toe Fai! and Talaucaka chart the evolution of one woman, one archive, and one world - from the cusp of forgetting to the ruins of remembrance.
