Dogs have been shown to increase your happiness, so it makes sense to want them around you all the time, including first thing in the morning - because let’s face it, what better way to start your day than with your happiness-boosting best friend? So here are some of the best dog-friendly cafes within the City of Perth, so you can start your day in the best possible way - with a good caffeine hit and your furry friend by your side.

Eillo, Northbridge

William Street’s Eillo is the perfect place for you and your pup to start your day. Not only do they do an exceptional brew using local beans from Perth-based Micrology Coffee Roasters, they also have delicious treats like cookies, cheesecake bites and brownies from Fremantle’s Fatboi Brownies; as well as unique toasties with flavours like Cheesy Lasagna or Daddy Mac (which is basically just mac and cheese in a toastie - genius.) There are sidewalk tables for you and your pooch to sit and enjoy the morning, and once you’re done, pop inside to peruse some of their homewares, house-plants and other knick-knacks.

Flora and Fauna, Northbridge

This Aberdeen Street gem is making healthy food look (and taste) like a treat. They have vegan and gluten-free brekkie, brunch and baked goods, with everything cooked onsite in their little kitchen. But what’s really impressive about this place is their presentation - every dish looks like a work of art (just check out their Instagram if you don’t believe us), you almost don’t want to tuck into it. All their seating is outside amongst trees, street art and some festive bunting, perfect you and your dog.

Gordon Street Garage, West Perth

This former garage has been fuelling the people of West Perth for years now, and for good reason - they do exceptional coffee using beans from fellow West Perth locals, Mano a Mano Coffee Roasters. At the back of the cafe is a sunny little courtyard with tables and chairs, so you and your pooch can make yourselves comfy with a coffee - and perhaps one of their famous cinnamon scrolls, almond croissants or slice of banana bread. 

Botanical Cafe, West Perth

Nestled within Kings Park is Botanical Cafe, a lovely spot serving breakfast and lunch using the freshets WA produce. They have daily baked goods if you’re after something light, but if you’re in need of a proper feed, their smashed avo, ricotta pancakes or corn fritters will surely hit the spot. There is outdoor seating available for you and your furry friend, and the location of Botanical - just beyond the scenic Fraser Avenue - makes it the perfect place to stop after a picturesque Kings Park dog-walk.

Boo Espresso, Perth

Don’t let the hole in the wall vibes deceive you - Boo is a must-visit spot for Perth coffee-fiends. What’s more, they boast an array of amazing treats like smoothies, juices, bliss balls, toasties and banana bread, so you can start your day on a real high. Take your pooch down with you and grab one of their sidewalk tables, perfectly shaded beneath the trees. They even have a dog-friendly patch of grass, to ensure all their four-legged customers have a comfy place to sit.

Toast Cafe, East Perth

This East Perth institution is the perfect spot to take your dog. The cafe is located along the riverside pedestrian path and close to many parks, making it a great pit-stop during a morning dog-walk; their pet-friendly outdoor seating area is north-facing so cops a generous amount of sunshine; and the outdoor tables and chairs overlook the river, so you and your pooch have one of the best views in Perth. 

Kinky Lizard, East Perth

Just around the corner from the waterfront is Kinky Lizard Espresso Bar. Dishing up breakfast classics and award-winning coffee, this is a super convenient spot to bring your furry friend after a stroll through the Mardalup Park or Victoria Gardens. They’ve got ample outdoor seating, with shade from umbrellas, perfect for you and your dog on a warm Perth day.
