Japanese Hyogo Friendship Garden
This serene garden marks the important friendship between the people of Perth and the people of Hyogo in Japan.
The opening of the garden marked the 30th anniversary of the Sister State relationship between Hyogo Prefecture in Japan and Western Australia in 2013; the Garden is a gift from the people of Hyogo to the people of WA.
The tranquil garden was designed by Professor Yue Shen from the University of Hyogo who came to Perth to supervise its construction, accompanied by several garden experts from Japan. It took two months to create and features tiles from Hyogo’s Awaji Island.
The sister state relationship with Hyogo is WA’s oldest.
