  • The Flying Boats of Matilda Bay

    During WWII, the US Navy operated a fleet of 60 Catalina flying boats at Matilda Bay. Qantas also operated five Catalina flying boats between Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) and Perth after the fall of Singapore to the Japanese in what was known as the ‘Double Sunrise’ service.
