Lotterywest Boorloo Heritage Festival

The Lotterywest Boorloo Heritage Festival is over for another year.

Offering over 100 events, from guided walks to open houses, exhibitions and performances, the festival shone a spotlight on the rich and diverse heritage of Boorloo (Perth).

A huge thank you goes out to our event partners and to our major supporter Lotterywest, destination partner Development WA and media partner ABC Radio Perth for helping us deliver another successful Festival.

Building Stories: Perth
Through illustrations, gossip and ghost stories, Perth’s historic buildings are brought to life, and uncover surprising stories hiding in plain sight. Launched at Pigface Bookstore, a heritage landmark featured in the book.

Once Known
A Carrolup Centre for Truth-telling exhibition, a presentation of selected reproductions of the delicate and culturally significant artworks created by Aboriginal children detained at the Carrolup Native Settlement in the 1940s. A series of Truth Talks were held as part of the exhibition. Pictured - Telling Our Truth - Zali Morgan.

Freedom Then & Now
Explores Perth’s queer heritage through the evolution of the Freedom Centre, a safe and creative space for LGBTIQA+ youth. This interactive exhibition and workshop series celebrated stories of community, courage, and care, reflecting how “freedom” has shaped Boorloo’s cultural identity across generations.
