Summer Reading Quest

The Summer Reading Quest is a FREE program that encourages children of all reading abilities to read, play and engage in literacy activities over the summer.

Visit participating libraries to collect your Summer Steps card or Reading Log today!

Summer Steps Card (for children under 5)
Summer Steps are early childhood development activities focusing on fun that can be done as part of your day. Choose one activity to do each day.

Reading Log (for children over 5)
Keep your reading motivation high over the summer, by recording how many minutes you read each day in December, January, and February. On the back of the log, you’ll find Side Quests, literacy-based activities that focus on the promotion of non-traditional reading, fun and creativity.

How to participate:

  • Pick up a reading log or summer steps card from your local Library.
  • Collect progress rewards from the Library each month.
  • Submit your reading totals and quest steps online by Friday 31 March 2024.
  • Every card and log submitted goes into the draw to win amazing state-wide prizes!

Take your summer steps card or reading log to a participating library each month to collect a progress prize (monthly progress prizes may vary between libraries).
At the end of the summer add it all up and submit your total. To go into the state-wide prize draw, submit your totals by March 31st.

The City of Perth Library is giving away $25 Fringe World Vouchers to the first 20 families to collect a summer steps card or reading log. One voucher is available per family. You must collect the reading log or summer steps card in person at the City of Perth Library, you cannot reserve vouchers, or collect them on behalf of others.
