Quantum Words Festival
Quantum Words is a new festival dedicated to science, innovation and wonder and features outstanding thinkers, scientists and creators from across Australia and overseas.
Water wars, the coolest jobs in the world, future machines, forensic technology, hip hop, and everything you ever wanted to know about poo are just some of the fascinating topics included in the Quantum Words Perth festival program, designed to engage curious and questioning minds.
The program includes an impressive line-up of science luminaries, artists, authors, conversationalists, poets, inventors and musicians participating in a range of conversations across three days of panel sessions and talks.
A festival highlight will be New York based rap artist and playwright, Baba Brinkman who will perform his powerful rap series - Rap Guide to Evolution, Rap Guide to Consciousness and Rap Guide to Climate Chaos - combining hip hop music and science.
World-renowned Orangutan expert Leif Cocks will explore what the great apes, our tribal past, conservation and what a more philosophical approach to life can teach us about our humanity.
In Blood Stains and Gun Barrels, leading forensic palynologist Lynne Milne
and crime writers Ron Elliott and Felicity Young critically explore the use of forensic science in contemporary crime fiction.
Surgeon Michael Levitt, physiologist Nick Haslam and children’s author James Foley join forces to discuss the ins and outs of poo and our odd yet healthy obsession with breaking wind and all things fecal!
Neuroscientist Lyn Beazley, journalist Jo Chandler and climate scientist
Joelle Gergis will explore topics that polarise our community, from climate change to the immunisation debate, and see science put under the microscope.
