Perth postal palace

On a grey and windy day in September 1923, Perth’s citizens officially welcomed its new ‘postal palace’, the General Post Office building on the recently created Forrest Place.

Join us for a talk about the fascinating history of the GPO and Forrest Place – a story that includes war-interrupted construction, threats of air raids, Cold War spies, mysterious footprints and lost letters. View a selection of stunning, rarely displayed original plans and drawings of these iconic buildings, as well as enjoying a complimentary scone and tea or coffee.
