Perth Poetry Festival 2022
Poetry fosters a love of language in people, a love rooted in awe, inspiration and accessibility. Over the past two years of lockdowns, more and more people have turned to poetry as a way to understand the complexities of the world, to bridge their own isolation, to find hope and wonder in the everyday.
This annual festival is an opportunity for our local poetry community to come together, share their work and shine. Perth Poetry Festival 2022 (PPF2022) presents readings, workshops and Micro-Residencies plus showcases multicultural, LGBTIQA+, female-identifying and young poets. With an abundance of open mic opportunities, audiences have the chance to share their unique and brilliant words.
WAPoets’ motto and the primary goal of PPF2022 is Celebrating Diversity & Inclusiveness. We are the only West Australian based literary festival focused solely on presenting and amplifying poetry. It allows us to connect with our local community and by successfully integrating livestream components into events, connecting WA poets to a national audience and community. As such, PPF2022 will showcase the vibrant strength of WA poetry to the entire country.
