Lotterywest City of Light Show 2024

Thank you to our Major Supporter Lotterywest for making this event possible.

The final instalment of the City of Light Show 2023/24 series finishes with a double night at Elizabeth Quay on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 February, with a Light Show at 8pm.

There's something for everyone on land to revel in. Keep the entire family entertained with an array of activities including roving entertainment, hula hoop workshops, or for those seeking a challenge, you can explore our sideshow alley. And when it's time to beat the heat, cool off in the BHP Water Park.

Amidst all the excitement, indulge your taste buds at the numerous food trucks and eateries surrounding Elizabeth Quay. Relax and savour the experience with ample seating provided at the event.

Light Show Viewing

The Light Show is set to launch at 8pm and will feature a 500-piece drone show, followed by a three (3) minute pyrotechnic display off the Elizabeth Quay footbridge.

For the best experience, the City of Perth encourages viewing the drone show from Elizabeth Quay. The Elizabeth Quay footbridge will be closed from the public between 4pm and 9pm.

The drone show has not been designed to be viewed from other locations and therefore the images will be reversed or viewing may be restricted from areas such as South Perth or Kings Park. If viewed from areas outside of Elizabeth Quay, the audience will be unable to hear the narrated soundtrack or have access to event facilities.

Event Road Closures

For public safety, road closures will be installed in/around the Elizabeth Quay precinct to restrict vehicle access and allow safe pedestrian flow.

The following road closures will be in place from 1:30pm to 11:00pm:

  • Birdiya Drive citybound (Access to Mounts Bay Road and the Freeway will remain open, with traffic controls in place)

The following road closures will be in place from 3:00pm to 10pm:

  • Geoffrey Bolton Avenue
  • Duchess Way
  • Enchantress Way

The following road closures will be in place from 7:00pm to 9:00pm:

  • William Street (between The Esplanade and the Mitchell Freeway on/off ramp)

Please note if parking at CPP Convention Centre car park that the pedestrian and vehicle exit to Riverside Drive will be closed during this event. Please exit via Mounts Bay Road and safely cross William Street at the pedestrian crossing.

Accessibility

The City of Perth is proud to host accessible and inclusive events.

  • Promotional material is available in other formats upon request.
  • Venue is accessible to people who use wheelchairs, walking aids and who are accompanied with prams.
  • First Aid services will be available at this event. 
  • An Assistance Animal Relief Area will be available on Geoffrey Bolton Avenue, on the area near the toilets as marked on the event map
  • An accessible viewing area will be available near the Carousel at Elizabeth Quay – please see the event map for exact location
  • Drinking water can be purchased from food stalls and nearby retailers. Drinking fountains are located at various points around the Elizabeth Quay inlet.

Parking
The closest parking (including accessible parking) can be found here:

  • CPP: Convention Centre (21 Mounts Bay Road and Mitchell Freeway, Perth)
    • Includes 23 ACROD parking bays 
  • CPP: Terrace Road 165 Terrace Road, Perth
    • Includes 8 ACROD parking bays 
  • CCP: Council House 27 St Georges Terrace, Perth
    • This carpark is not accessible for ACROD parking during the weekend

Additional temporary ACROD bays will be reserved on The Esplanade and Riverside Drive as on street parking but are subject to availability.

A taxi service is available for passengers with disabilities. This service operates 24 hours a day and it is recommended to book 24 hours in advance to avoid delays. The service can be booked on (08) 9333 3377.

You can also download the Uber and Ola apps to be picked up securely from anywhere in the city.

The closest train station can be found at Elizabeth Quay Station, The Esplanade.

The closest bus stops are at Elizabeth Quay Bus Station.

The closest permanent accessible toilets can be found within Elizabeth Quay and Supreme Court Gardens.

Temporary accessible toilets will be provided at Elizabeth Quay.

For the The Light Within from 5pm to 8:15pm on both nights the City will include services for those with hearing impairments within an accessible viewing area near the Carousel, as marked on the event map, including Auslan interpreters.

To access these services, download the free Sennheiser Mobileconnect App on your mobile device PRIOR to arriving at the performance venue. Connect to the DADAA wifi network to access the app at the venue.
