City of Light Show - New Year's Eve

Families can ring in the New Year with a bang at Elizabeth Quay. The Elizabeth Quay Fun Fair will be in full swing from 5pm - test your skills in sideshow alley or take a ride in the dodgem cars or dream swinger. Stay tuned for information on tickets!

A variety of food trucks will be open from 5pm to keep the family energised and ready for more rides. Look out for the stilt walkers and jesters!

At 9pm the kids can get ready to countdown to the New Year with a spectacular fireworks display. To get a good spot for the fireworks, make sure you are located at the following:

  • Elizabeth Quay inlet and bridge
  • Viewing areas as marked on the event map 

Entertainment 

  • 5pm to 8pm - Roving performers – Butterflies, Circus Acts, Stilt walkers!
  • 5pm to 8pm - LED Hula-Hoop Workshop 
  • 5pm to late - Elizabeth Quay Fun Fair
  • 9pm – Fireworks

City of Light Show is free to attend, however amusement rides and sideshow alley games will require tickets to be purchased – more information will be available soon.

Fireworks Viewing

For the best experience, the City of Perth encourages viewing the fireworks from Elizabeth Quay and surrounds. The fireworks show has not been designed to be viewed from other locations and therefore viewing may be restricted from areas such as South Perth or Kings Park. If viewed from areas outside of Elizabeth Quay or Barrack Square, the audience will be unable to hear the narrated soundtrack or have access to event facilities. 

Accessibility

The City of Perth is proud to host accessible and inclusive events. 

  • Promotional material is available in other formats upon request.
  • Each venue is accessible to people who use wheelchairs, walking aids and who are accompanied with prams.
  • First Aid services will be available at this event. 
  • An Assistance Animal Relief Area will be available at Barrack Square, on the grassed area near the temporary accessible toilet as marked on the event map
  • An accessible viewing area will be available near the Carousel at Elizabeth Quay – please see the event map for exact location
  • Drinking water can be purchased from food stalls and nearby retailers. Drinking fountains are located at various points around the Elizabeth Quay inlet and on the timber decking at the Belltower, Barrack Square.

The closest parking (including accessible parking) can be found here:

  • CPP: Convention Centre (21 Mounts Bay Road and Mitchell Freeway, Perth)
    •  Includes 23 ACROD parking bays 
  • CPP: Terrace Road 165 Terrace Road, Perth
    • Includes 8 ACROD parking bays 
  • CCP: Council House 27 St Georges Terrace, Perth
    • This carpark is not accessible for ACROD parking during the weekend 

Additional temporary ACROD bays will be reserved on The Esplanade and Riverside Drive as on street parking but are subject to availability.

Rideshare/ Taxis can be ordered to Riverside Drive or The Esplanade as the closet cross streets to the event:

A taxi service is available for passengers with disabilities. This service operates 24 hours a day and it is recommended to book 24 hours in advance to avoid delays. The service can be booked on (08) 9333 3377.

You can also download the Uber and Ola apps to be picked up securely from anywhere in the city.

For the fireworks show at 9pm the City will include services for those with hearing and visual impairments within an accessible viewing area near the Carousel, as marked on the event map, including:

  • Event Road Closures

    For public safety, road closures will be installed within the Elizabeth Quay precinct to restrict vehicle access and allow safe pedestrian flow. The following roads will be closed from 3pm to 11pm, or when roads are safe to open:

    • Geoffrey Bolton Ave, Duchess Way and Enchantress Way.

    Please note if parking at CPP Convention Centre car park that the pedestrian and vehicle exit to Riverside Drive will be closed during this event. Please exit via Mounts Bay Road and safely cross William Street at the pedestrian crossing.
