Festive Date Night Ideas In The City

Undoubtedly, the highlight of the City of Perth’s festivities this year is the Christmas Lights Trail. Back for its third year, the impressive city-wide display is raising the bar in 2019 with 27 enchanting light installations and three routes that move throughout Northbridge, the Perth CBD and East Perth.
For a fun and flirty date night that won’t break the bank, why not tackle route one of the Christmas Lights Trail? Starting from the Perth Train Station, route one journeys through Northbridge. Stop for a pint and pizza at the Northbridge Brewing Company, where you can admire Santa's Vintage Wheels, then continue along the trail before popping in at Market Grounds at the halfway point for a refreshing cocktail.
The trail continues into the CBD with some fantastic displays located near the Perth Underground. Here, you could make a pitstop at The Aviary for a rooftop bevvy, before wandering through the Murray Street Mall to take in the final light installations of route one.
And don’t forget to snap a selfie while on the Christmas Light Trail. Simply upload your photo to Instagram using the hashtag #thecityatchristmas (and make sure you’re following @visitperth and @crowneplazaperth) for your chance to win the ultimate staycation at Crowne Plaza for the 2020 Australia Day weekend.
Once you’ve finished with route one, you can continue through to routes two and three if you’re up to it, or alternatively save those for another night and take your date on a wander through the Christmas Markets.
The market scene in Perth is packed to the brim with festive options this Christmas. Every Friday night from 4pm onwards you’ll find vibrant and festive stalls to peruse in Forrest Place, Yagan Square and Cathedral Square. It’s a fantastic low-key date night option that allows you to cross some Christmas shopping off your list, while at the same time spending quality time with that special someone!
Of course, not everyone is looking for low-key when it comes to a date night. For those wanting something a little more refined, a spot of Christmas shopping in the CBD before heading out to indulge your palette in a taste sensation could be the way to go.
When it comes to Perth’s fine dining scene, it’s hard to go past the Treasury Building and its selection of delicious restaurants. Five-course degustation with paired wines at Wildflower anyone?
Other great options for a tasty meal include the Apple Daily at Print Hall, Meat & Wine Co, Lalla Rookh and the C Restaurant to name just a few.
