Outside on Preston Street sunset

Preston Street

As one of the highest locations in South Perth, Preston Street Shopping Precinct offers sweeping views to Como Beach.

Indulge in sophisticated art deco style at the heritage-listed Cygnet Cinema. It’s a chic and social spot – perfect for that Instagram shot and a favourite movie. Built in 1938, it’s fully licensed, painted a glorious shade of pastel pink and has a huge Alfred Hitchcock mural on the side of the building.

Craving more? The Hangout, Kopi Seru, Wild Lime Cafe, Nasi Lemak Corner, Kagura Sushi House and the Como Beach Bakery will all keep you fuelled.

Plus, devour WA’s best steak sandwich (2014, 2017 and 2019) at the Karalee on Preston. This friendly pub has some amazing river views and is best enjoyed with some mates and a cold brew.

Next time you visit, cross the pedestrian bridge to the river and you might just spot a playful pod of dolphins who also call this precinct home!
