Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge
Recommended for all the family, Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge is a delightful, funny and poignant story about a small boy who lives next to an old people's home.
Wilfrid has many adventures with his neighbours, but his most favourite neighbour of all is Miss Nancy Alison Delacourt Cooper. When he overhears his parents saying 96 year old Miss Nancy has lost her memory, he sets out to help her find it again.Presented by Music Book Stories and State of Play, and supported by the City of Perth and DLGSC, Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge is a captivating musical for children and families, skilfully and faithfully adapted by acclaimed Perth composer Emma Jayakumar, based on the book by Mem Fox and Julie Vivas.
This heartwarming chamber opera features the warm, lyrical sounds of baritone Brett Peart and mezzo-soprano Caitlin Cassidy, alongside the sparky and energetic child actors, Dante Pendergrast and Narayan Jayakumar, who share the role of Wilfrid.
Directed with playful humour and emotion by Andries Weidemann, the opera is an immersive, fast-moving and imaginative experience, accompanied by the dynamic Chimera Ensemble with clarinet, cello, double bass and piano.
Parents, grandparents and children alike will enjoy the relaxed setting, interacting with the singers and learning a new song to sing together. The music is soulful, emotive and witty and the charming story touches hearts young and old.
