The Champagne Chronicles - Chapter Six - Purity & Perfection
In La Champagne , the Côtes des Blancs is acknowledged as the heart of Chardonnay terroir, producing Blanc de Blancs of exceptional purity, elegance and longevity.
Famous for its deep, white, cool, chalky sub-strata, comprising ancient marine fossils deposited in the Cretaceous period, the Côte des Blancs is home to the Grand Crus of Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Oger, Oiry and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.
Grand Marque Houses jostle to acquire grape contracts on this hallowed ground, and small RM grower- producers gratefully acknowledge their forebearers who had the wisdom to accumulate parcels of land in these favoured crus, now selling for more than 1.6 million euros per hectare.
From creamy, tropical richness to laser -focussed citrus salinity, the Côte des Blancs yields Blanc de Blanc champagnes of remarkable poise and finesse.
Join us as we examine the purity and perfection of a representative cross section of the Côte des Blancs in Chapter six of the Champagne Chronicles hosted by Tracy Mann.
Eight champagnes will be tasted including cuvées from Agrapart, Glavier, Louis Roederer and more...
