Screen Highlights August 16

10am | SlowTV Djilba Day

Djilba (August-September) is the fifth season in the Nyoongar Calendar. This is the season of growth, as the weather begins to warm up. Djilba season is a time to look for the yellow and cream flowers starting on mass.
As the season progresses and the temperatures continue to rise, we'll start to see the flower stalks of the balgas emerging in preparation for the coming Kambarang season.
The vivid beauty and life of Perth’s natural wonders are paired with small pieces of information found on the KURONGKURL KATITJIN page of the ECU website.

In 2019, a young whale research team called Whale Wise spent the summer in North Iceland. They studied the response of whales to whale-watching vessels, working with a special community in Húsavík. Their field season was full of challenges and highlights, laughs and mistakes. It was real, successful and imperfect.
5:30pm | SlowTV Djilba Sunset
6pm | Science Week | NASA: Earth as Art
For over 40 years, the Landsat program has collected spectral information from Earth’s surface, creating a historical archive unmatched in quality, detail, coverage, and length.
In Earth as Art, we display the Earth as our eyes cannot see it—in creative combinations of visible and infrared light. These unreal views of farmland, coastlines, and snowscapes remind us of the powerfully artistic qualities of Earth’s land features.
