Reviving Useful Monsters
How human factors and folklore can help us overcome modern hazards.
How should we relate to modern technology? What is the future of AI? Is it going to advance humanity in ways we can’t yet imagine, or is its promise more hype than substance?
Join Dr Christian Mauri for a thoughtful talk on how we should approach this uncertain future. Learn how folklore applies to the modern online landscape and how to preserve your cognitive competence in the age of convenience.
Christian Mauri, PhD, is a sociologist and author who studies how precarity and cognitive workload shape individual and community behaviour. He delivers de-escalation training to businesses and government agencies across Western Australia.
In 2024, he was named Citizen of the Year for community work including organising political events that bring together people who might not otherwise meet.
