New Year’s Eve in the City
Come together and celebrate the arrival of the New Year with a vibrant program of family-friendly activities and entertainment at Elizabeth Quay and Surrounds, Experience roving performers, a live DJ and a variety of food trucks. Families can enjoy free carnival rides in Supreme Court Gardens at the Lotterywest Family Fun Zone. Two spectacular fireworks displays will be at 8:30pm and midnight, lighting up the city skyline for an unforgettable start to the new year.

For the best experience, the City of Perth recommends viewing the fireworks from Elizabeth Quay, Barrack Square, Supreme Court Gardens and the foreshore near Birdiya Drive.
Viewing may be restricted from areas such as South Perth or Kings Park. Additionally, audiences outside Elizabeth Quay, Barrack Square, Supreme Court Gardens and the foreshore will not be able to hear the narrated soundtrack or access event facilities.

This event will include flashing lights, loud music, and general crowd noise throughout. We understand this may present challenges for some visitors, so we encourage you to consider your needs and review the Accessibility and Sensory Event Guide before attending.
Please see below a general understanding of what is on offer for this event:
- Promotional material is available in other formats upon request.
- Elizabeth Quay and Barrack Square venue is accessible to people who use wheelchairs, walking aids and who are accompanied with prams. Event activities at Supreme Court Gardens and Birdiya Drive take place on grass.
- First Aid services will be available at this event.
- An Assistance Animal Relief Area will be available on Geoffrey Bolton Avenue, near the public toilets as marked on the event map.
- An accessible viewing area will be available near the Carousel at Elizabeth Quay. Please see the event map for exact location. Auslan interpreters will be available during the light show segment at 8:30pm within this location.
- A sensory space is available for individuals and their families/guardians who need a break from the event’s excitement. Please ensure that family members are not left unattended in this space.
- Drinking water can be purchased from food stalls and nearby retailers.
- Drinking fountains are located at various points around the Elizabeth Quay inlet.

Taxis and rideshare services can be directed to St Georges Terrace (corner William Street or Barrack Street) or Mounts Bay Road (corner William Street) the nearest open cross streets to the event. Local taxi and rideshare provider details are listed below:

Passengers wanting to embark on the Mandurah Line will need to board at Elizabeth Quay Station only between 8.30pm and 10pm.
Fremantle, Ellenbrook, Midland, Airport, Armadale and Thornile-Cockburn Line
Please proceed to Perth Station to board your train service.
Elizabeth Quay Train Station – Event Changes
Train line services will resume as normal after 10pm.
The closest permanent accessible toilet can be found within Elizabeth Quay, Barrack Square and Supreme Court Gardens. Temporary accessible toilets will be provided at Elizabeth Quay, Barrack Square and on the foreshore near Birdiya Drive.
Changing Places facility is located at Elizabeth Quay, opposite the Elizabeth Quay Water Park. Facilities include a toilet, adult-size change table, hoist and space for assistants. Access is via a MLAK key, which can be obtained from the Master Locksmiths Association of Australasia.
Audio description services will not be available for this event.

For public safety, road closures will be installed in/around the Elizabeth Quay precinct to restrict vehicle access and allow safe pedestrian flow. The following road closures occur:

Water closures
The Elizabeth Quay Inlet will be closed to recreational vessels between 4pm and 1am on the event night, and pens will not be available for use during this period. Transperth ferry services will continue to operate as normal.
An on-water Exclusion Zone will be in place on the Swan River, closing the area to all commercial and recreational vessels.

Will the fireworks soundtrack be available on radio?
No. The soundtrack can only be experienced at the event sites.

Will first aid be available at the event?Yes, a First Aid Post will be located on-site. Please refer to the event map for the exact locations.

The event offers a range of accessibility features including an Accessible Viewing Area, Audio Description Services, Auslan Interpreting Services, an Accessibility shuttle between the event site and Changing Places facilities.

Food Vendors
A range of food trucks and existing food outlets will be available on Barrack Square, Barrack St, Supreme Court Gardens and Birdiya Drive.
Drinking Water
Drinking water fountains and water bottle refilling stations are available at the event site. Bottled water will be available for purchase from food vendors on site, however we encourage patrons to bring their own water bottles.
Waste Management
There will be many waste bins located around the event, meaning there will be one close to where you are sitting, walking, or celebrating! Don’t forget to pay attention to the signs on the bins and put your rubbish or recycling in the correct bin.

Is this a licensed event?No, this is an alcohol-free community event. There are licenced venues within Elizabeth Quay.

Where is the closest ATM / Are EFTPOS facilities available?Several banks with ATMs are located along St Georges Terrace, just a short walk from Elizabeth Quay. Most food vendors also accept EFTPOS payments.
