Misinformation Online

Join us for this lunchtime talk with Dr Jason Weismueller on Misinformation Online.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority defines misinformation as false, misleading, or deceptive information that can cause harm. Learn more about misinformation and how to spot it by joining us for this talk by Dr Jason Weismueller from The University of Western Australia. Dr Weismueller will discuss what makes people susceptible to accepting and sharing misinformation, and what strategies can be employed to combat this issue.

About the Speaker

Dr Jason Weismueller is a lecturer in marketing at The University of Western Australia. His research focuses on digital marketing and the ‘dark side’ of social media. Dr Weismueller has written for The Conversation and international journals, Information Systems Journal and Computers in Human Behaviour.
