ICONS. Australian Design – Design institute of Australia, Monash University and Stylecraft

Icons! will open Monday the 3rd of April 2023 to launch Design Week and close Friday the 28th of April. It is a free exhibition, held in the Council House Foyer, and will be open 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).

The exhibition is organised by the Design Institute of Australia and features over 100 iconic mid to late 20th century products designed in Australia. From world-first innovation such as the Kambrook powerboard, to household favourites like the Nylex Esky coloured Décor kitchen and picnicware, and rare highlights such as Grant and Mary Featherston’s Sound Chair.

The exhibition is curated by Ian Wong, Senior Lecturer in Industrial Design at Monash University, and shows how our daily lives are powered by the outputs of creative and industrial design.
