Hancock Prospecting Australia Day

Presented by the City of Perth, with generous support from Principle Event Partner, Hancock Prospecting.

This Australia Day, head to Langley Park for a jam-packed day of family fun, featuring over a kilometre of activities, and the best spot to enjoy Perth’s spectacular drone and fireworks display.

There will be plenty of family entertainment and food trucks from 3pm and a combined drone and fireworks display after 8:30pm over the Swan River.

Light Show 

Drone and Fireworks Display 
8.30pm – 9pm | Free

Showcasing a combination drone formations and fireworks, see the sky above the Swan River explode with colour and dazzling lights at 8.30pm for a spectacular 30-minute show! 

Viewing Location

The light show will take place over the Swan River near the Perth foreshore. For the best experience, the City of Perth recommends viewing from Langley Park.
 
The drone element of the light show is not designed to be viewed from other locations such as South Perth or Kings Park. If viewed from areas outside of Langley Park, the audience will not be able to hear the narrated soundtrack or access event facilities.

*Light show timings can be affected by wind conditions and are subject to change.

Langley Park is the place to be this Australia Day with an array of free and ticketed family fun, plus Perth’s best views of the spectacular light show. Here’s what you can find from 3pm. 

  • Reflect Respect Celebrate Film Dome

    3pm to 8pm | Free

    Presented by Auspire, the Reflect Respect Celebrate Film Dome will be screening cultural and educational short films on rotation from 3pm on Australia Day. For movie-goers, there will also be goodie bags filled with everything you need to complete your day, so get down early before they’re all gone!

  • Freestyle Motocross and BMX Stunt Shows

    3:30pm to 7:15pm | Free

    The best of Australia’s extreme action talent performs amazing backflips, mind blowing stunts and crazy tricks.

  • Multicultural Zone

    3pm to 8pm | Free

    Celebrate Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and multicultural communities with performances, stalls, and hands-on arts and crafts workshops.

    Located on the west end of Langley Park, there is fun for all ages and adrenaline levels with a huge range of amusements and games! For the brave of heart, brace yourself and experience the Storm or Dream Swinger; for something lower key, check out the Cup & Saucer Ride or Fiesta Balloon.
  • Sky Dive Display

    7:15pm | Free

    Look up and witness an exhilarating spectacle as five skydivers make their descent onto Langley Park!
  • Hancock Prospecting Picnic Zone 

    3pm to 9.30pm | Cost to Purchase

    Relax in the Hancock Prospecting Picnic Zone, with ample seating and shade to enjoy a meal! Bring your own picnic or browse the diverse range of cuisines available from around the globe. 
    Don't forget to bring your reusable cutlery and serving ware, as these are welcomed by the food trucks.
     
  • Drone and Fireworks Display 2026

    8:30pm – 9pm | Free

    Showcasing a combination drone formations and fireworks, see the sky above the Swan River explode with colour and dazzling lights at 8:30pm for a spectacular 30-minute show! 

    Viewing Location: The light show will take place over the Swan River, directly in front of Langley Park. For the best viewing experience, the City of Perth recommends watching from Langley Park and the Riverside Drive foreshore.

    The drone component of the show is not intended to be viewed from locations such as South Perth or Kings Park. Audiences outside Langley Park will miss elements of the full light show experience, including the narrated soundtrack and access to event facilities.

  • Batmobile Tumbler

    3pm to 8pm | Free

    Don’t miss the chance to see the Batmobile Tumbler, a life-sized, screen-accurate replica from the Dark Knight trilogy, built right here in Perth!  Designed and built by Mataki O’Goshi Lim in honour of his late daughter, Madalyn Jane Lim, this incredible vehicle is an engineering marvel. At 6 metres long, 3 metres wide, and weighing 3.5 tonnes, the Tumbler is one of the most talked-about vehicles in Australia.
     
  • City of Perth Parks and Environment Stall

    3pm – 8pm | Free

    Take home free native seeds, enjoy kids’ colouring activities, and admire beautiful native flower displays. Discover local environmental initiatives and snap a photo on our park ride-on machinery!
     
  • City of Perth Waste Wise Activity

    3pm – 8 pm | Free 

    Play our interactive digital waste sorting game, then take your best shot at the Containers for Change recycling hoop. You will learn how to separate your waste correctly with these hands-on activities.
     
  • iNSTRUCKTA! Safety Truck

    3pm to 8pm | Free

    Get hands-on with interactive road safety training in the iNSTRUCKTA! safety truck.  A unique and engaging experience for all ages.
     
  • Old Central Fire Station Display

    3pm to 8pm | Free

    Dress up as an emergency helper, try on a shiny brass helmet, explore heritage fire engines, and have a go at our giant ropes and ladders game. Fun for all ages!
  • RAC Rescue Helicopter

    3pm to 8pm | Free

    The RAC Rescue Experience is a free community activation run by RAC, featuring a repurposed Bell 206 helicopter fitted with virtual reality – giving people of all ages the chance to feel the power and purpose of RAC Rescue helicopters. Viewers will watch one of three newly released rescue missions, that showcase the life-saving work of the RAC Rescue helicopters.

    The RAC Rescue helicopters are funded by the State Government, managed by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) and sponsored by RAC.

     
     
  • St John First Aid Awareness

    3pm to 8pm | Free

    Learn vital first aid skills with CPR demos, ambulance tours, and hands-on bandaging activities.
  • P.A.R.T.Y Program 

    3pm to 8pm | Free

    The P.A.R.T.Y. Program (Prevent Alcohol and Risk-Related Trauma in Youth) from Royal Perth Hospital is an interactive experience for young people and families. Meet trauma-care staff, try hands-on activities that show the impact of risky choices, and learn simple ways to stay safe on the roads and in everyday life. A great opportunity to spark real conversations about safety.
