Hancock Iron Ore New Year’s Eve

Come together and celebrate the arrival of the New Year with a vibrant program of family-friendly activities and entertainment at Elizabeth Quay and Surrounds, Experience roving performers, a live DJ and a variety of food trucks. Families can enjoy free carnival rides in Supreme Court Gardens at the Lotterywest Family Fun Zone. Two spectacular fireworks displays will be at 8:30pm and midnight, lighting up the city skyline for an unforgettable start to the new year.

Light Show viewing

For the best experience, the City of Perth recommends viewing the Fireworks from Elizabeth Quay, Barrack Square, Supreme Court Gardens and the Foreshore near Birdya Drive. Viewing may be restricted from areas such as South Perth or Kings Park. Additionally, audiences outside Elizabeth Quay, Barrack Square, Supreme Court Gardens and the Foreshore will not be able to hear the narrated soundtrack or access event facilities.

 

Accessibility

The City of Perth is proud to host accessible and inclusive events.

  • Promotional material is available in other formats upon request.
  • Venue is accessible to people who use wheelchairs, walking aids and who are accompanied with prams.
  • First Aid services will be available at this event.
  • An Assistance Animal Relief Area will be available on Geoffrey Bolton Avenue, on the area near the toilets as marked on the event map.
  • An accessible viewing area will be available near the Carousel at Elizabeth Quay – please see the event map for exact location.
  • A sensory space is available for individuals who need a break from the event’s excitement as well as their family members or guardians. Please ensure that family members are not left unattended in this space.
  • The closest permanent accessible toilets can be found within Elizabeth Quay, Barrack Square and Supreme Court Gardens.
  • Temporary accessible toilets will be provided at Elizabeth Quay, Barrack Square and on the Foreshore near Birdya Drive.
  • Auslan interpreters will be available during the light show segment at 8:30pm. These services will be provided in an accessible viewing area near the Carousel, as indicated on the event map.
  • Drinking water can be purchased from food stalls and nearby retailers. Drinking fountains are located at various points around the Elizabeth Quay inlet.

The closest train station can be found at Elizabeth Quay Station, The Esplanade.

    • Includes 23 ACROD parking bays

    • This carpark is not accessible for ACROD parking during the weekend

Please note if parking at CPP Convention Centre car park that the pedestrian and vehicle exit to William Street and Birdya Dr will be closed during this event. Please exit via Mounts Bay Road and safely cross William Street at the pedestrian crossing.

  • Water closures

    The Elizabeth Quay Inlet will be closed to recreational vessels between 4pm and 1am on the event night, and pens will not be available for use during this period. Transperth ferry services will continue to operate as normal.

    An on-water Exclusion Zone will be in place on the Swan River, closing the area to all commercial and recreational vessels.
