Greek Sea Battles that Changed the World
Three of the most significant sea battles in history were fought in Greek waters. Salamis, where the Athenian navy turned back a Persian invasion of Greece. Actium, which founded the Roman Empire and cost Mark Antony and Cleopatra their lives. Navarino, the turning point in the Greek War of Independence.
This event will be presented by Bob Pearce, a noted Western Australian Greek-speaking philhellene who has sailed extensively in Greek waters. A former Member of the Western Australian Parliament, he served as Minister for Education, Planning, Transport and Environment in the WA government.
