EXHIBITIONS ON SCREEN | NAA Sea to Suburbia

“Sea to Suburbia” takes you on a nostalgic journey spanning four decades, showcasing the people, places, and everyday life of Western Australia through a collection of captivating photographs.

Immerse yourself in iconic Western Australian scenes—sun-drenched beaches, picturesque suburbs, flourishing industries, and winding rivers. Reflect on images that challenge how our attitudes toward the environment and urban development have shifted over time. Discover a renewed appreciation for what it means to call yourself a “West Australian.”

This engaging exhibition sheds light on the crucial role Australian government photographers have played in preserving our nation’s visual heritage, stirring memories and sparking conversations.

The National Archives of Australia is dedicated to collecting, managing, preserving, and making publicly accessible the records of the Australian Government.

“Sea to Suburbia” exhibits daily on the City of Perth Urban Screens from December through January.

The walled exhibition—featuring rare films and photographs, runs until 28 November 2025 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, at the Western Australian Office of the National Archives of Australia in Northbridge.
