Exhibition - Head On Portrait Awards 2025

The prestigious Head On Photo Awards celebrate the world’s best in photography, illuminating the perspectives, styles, and forms that break new ground.

We challenge photographers to bring us new ways of seeing the world. We also want to ensure we value photographers for their incredible creative contributions and share their exceptional images. Head On’s diverse and experienced curatorial team, actively seeks bold, daring, and exciting images. Our blind judging process, where artists’ names are hidden, ensures this work is done on an even playing field. Head On believes that curation must consider both the seen and the unseen. Truly great photographs reveal a truth about our world without sacrificing the imagination and give you a fleeting glimpse into the life unfolding around the moment.

The Head On Portrait Awards (est. 2004) recognises photographers who demonstrate a unique visual literacy of portraiture and innovative approaches to traditional and contemporary forms, expanding our understanding of what a portrait can be. Selected work shows powerful contrasts, whether intimate and grand, posed or candid, capturing a richer picture of the human condition.

This exhibition is part of the Head On Photo Festival Perth, presented by the Head On Foundation.
