Coolbaroo Dance
Join us for the Coolbaroo Dance, the community celebration for Heritage Perth Weekend and the National Trust of WA Australian Heritage Festival.
Coolbaroo is an Aboriginal Yamatji word for magpie and represented mixed races with its colour of black and white. The Coolbaroo Club was set up for Aboriginal people to socialise together freely at a time when prohibited areas were enforced within the City. When the Prohibited Area policy ended in 1954, dances were held in large venues including the Perth Town Hall. Come and share these stories and dance the night away! Adults only. Formal dress. Alcohol free event.
