Bush Chook

Under the relentless sun on the edge of the Nullarbor Plain, a charming pair meet.

Mary is driving to Perth to visit family whilst Angus is heading to Adelaide to see his dying father. They dance. They talk. They may even kiss. But beneath the surface of flirtation, something far more sinister is brewing.

Influenced by Wake in Fright and How to Make Gravy, Bush Chook, written and directed by Hayley Perrin and performed by Lea Šimić and Matthew J. Young; premiers as part of Summer Nights 2026. This time-jumping thriller invites you to question what danger looks like and why are women expected to carry the burden of silence? At every laugh, every glance, hides a tension that could snap at any moment.
