Aussie Movie Night

Grab a bean bag and settle in for an Aussie-themed movie night on the super screen!

Storm Boy (6pm)
Storm Boy | 2019 | PG | Dir: Shawn Seet | Australia | 1h 39m

A beautiful and contemporary retelling of Colin Thiele’s classic Australian tale. ‘Storm Boy’ has grown up to be Michael Kingley, a successful retired businessman and grandfather. When Kingley starts to see images from his past that he can’t explain, he is forced to remember his long-forgotten childhood, growing up on an isolated coastline with his father. He recounts to his grand-daughter the story of how, as a boy, he rescued and raised an extraordinary orphaned pelican, Mr Percival.

The Castle (7:45pm)
The Castle | 1997 | M | Dir: Rob Sitch | Australia | 1h 25m

The Nation should never have heard of Darryl Kerrigan. The Kerrigan family should still be living at 3 Highview Crescent Cooloroo, in total obscurity. They were terrible houses on worthless land. The compulsory acquisition should go through without a hitch... Right?... Wrong. To Darryl it was never a house; it was a home and a very happy one. How Darryl and his small time suburban lawyer mate, Dennis Denuto assist by a new friend, retired QC Lawrence Hamill ended up in the High Court of Australia is the story told in The Castle. If you thought Burke and Wills were the worst equipped people in Australian history, you’re in for a big surprise. The Castle is a sweeping saga that takes the harsh Australian outback, the rugged characters of the ANZAC legend, the spirit of Banjo Patterson and ignores them in favour of a greyhound racing, tow-truck driver who never meant to be a hero.
