Presented by the Claremont Masters, the 2025 Swim Thru Perth is Australia’s oldest open water swim and a special Perth community event.

Celebrating the 105th running of the event on 19 January 2025, the Swim Thru Perth is a unique open water swim held in the beautiful Swan River and on the foreshore of Matilda Bay.

7:15am – Registration opens
8:15am – Registration closes
8:20am – Race Briefing (Compulsory)
8:45am - 1.6km Classic Mile
8:50am - 800m Matilda Splash
9:00am - 3.5km Challenge

Melius Consulting 3.5km Challenge (min age 10 years)

Traditional straight-line course starting from the beach to the east of the Narrow’s Bridge. Competitors travel by bus to the start line and swim downstream following the foreshore to the finish area at Matilda Bay

Satterley 1.6km Challenge (min age 11 years)

A circuit course with the start and finish at Matilda Bay. The Classic mile is perfect for swimmers and triathletes who can’t quite commit to the longer 3.5km Challenge

Community swimmers + past competitors who cannot swim 3.5km

Andritz 800m Splash (mine age 12 years)

Designed for community swimmers, families, triathletes and swimmers with disabilities. A simple circuit course in the protected waters of Matilda Bay

Fundraising
The Swim Thru Perth has had a proud tradition of fundraising and the 2025 event is no exception. We will be continuing our association with the Superfins Swimming Club, Perth’s leading swimming club for swimmers with disabilities, who will be operating the event BBQ and will be beneficiaries of fundraising from the event.

The Swim Thru Perth is privileged to be able to be held in the water of the Swim River and we take our commitment to helping maintain the health of this magnificent waterway very seriously. For the third year, the Swim Thru Perth will be part of the Plastic Free Riverpark Program coordinated by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation & Attractions.

By reducing our use of single-use plastic items, providing reusable cups and encouraging participants to bring reusable water bottles and coffee cups, and ensuring that the message of the Plastic Free Riverpark Program is conveyed to our swimmers, spectators and visitors, we have embraced the ethos of sustainability and caring for our river system.
