The AFL Grand Final is going to look a little different this year - not only is it being held in Queensland, but it also has a much later bounce-down of 7.30pm. And while we West Aussies are a bit gutted that we didn’t get to host the big dance here in Perth, we think a grand final under lights is a greater excuse to get the gang together and make a night of it. Sure, your living room is comfortable, but we bet it doesn’t have the ambience of these lively spots. So here are some of the best places to watch the grand final in Perth and Northbridge.

Patriots Sports Bar, Northbridge

Located within the Brass Monkey Hotel, Patriots Sports Bar is an epic sports-watching venue. It boasts 22 screens, three big screens and two private screening booths to catch all of the grand final action, plus a menu of pub classics that are perfect for game day like pizzas, parmi and steak sandwiches. And if you want to get up and stretch the legs at half time, they’ve got pool tables and arcade games so you can keep that competitive spirit high.

Generous Squire, Perth

Murray Street’s Generous Squire is offering up a very generous grand final day package for groups of five or more. For $50 per person you can watch the game from your VIP table with prime views of their five screens, bottomless beer, cider, wines and bubbles, a chef’s selection of tasty bar snacks from bounce-down to final siren, and a post-game DJ to keep the party.

Belgian Beer Cafe, Perth

Whether you want to be organised and lock something in in advance, or keep it relaxed and just walk-in on the day, The Belgian has got you covered for game day. You can opt for their three hour bottomless garden package from 5-8pm for just $59, which includes unlimited prosecco, Aperol Spritz, and select beers and wines, plus game snacks like guacamole and tostadas, homemade sausage rolls, Belgian frites and sliders, all with secured seating in their beer garden with a new big screen. Alternatively, you can rock up on game day without a booking and still watch the action in their front bar, plus enjoy a $20 burger, pint and bet.

The Point Bar & Grill, East Perth

The team at The Point are hosting a rooftop Grand Final party, with live big screen coverage and awesome food and beverage specials. If you know you’ll have a group, you can call ahead and reserve a spot in one of their private booths. After the final siren, stick around and kick on for the post match party with live DJ sets from 8pm.

Market Grounds, Perth

Market Grounds in Perth’s Yagan Square has a bumper grand final day planned. For $89 per person you can take advantage of their Siren to Siren package, which includes free-flowing tap beer and cider, aperol spritz and wine, plus an epic AFL food platter stacked with beef sliders, pork sausage rolls, shepherd’s pies and buffalo chicken wings. They’ve got five screens throughout the venue to watch the game, with half-time entertainment and prizes up for grabs.

The Game Sports Bar, Northbridge

The Game Sports Bar within the Aberdeen Hotel is one of the best places in the city to watch sport. With over 35 screens across the venue, you’re not going to miss a minute of the action here. They’ve got an outdoor terrace and garden bar if you need some fresh air at half time, and a menu packed with great beer selections and sport-watching snacks like jalapeno poppers, burgers and hot dogs.
