Mamma Maali in the Quay

The Landing, Elizabeth Quay | Tuesday 15 - Wednesday 30 April 

School holidays will see Mamma Maali nest at Elizabeth Quay, celebrating the Maali (Black swan) through art, culture, and interactive fun. Watch acclaimed artist Justin Martin bring Mamma Maali to life in a live public art installation. Take a joy ride on a giant swan pedal boat train in Elizabeth Quay with ‘Swans on the Swan’., immerse yourself in swan-themed crafts and nature play, and help fold 1,000 origami swans in a special ‘make a wish’ installation. Experts will also share insights into the cultural history of the Black swan and the present day challenge of protecting Black swan habitat.   

 

Celebrate 125 years of creativity at North Metropolitan TAFE

For over a century, North Metropolitan TAFE has shaped Western Australia’s creative industries, evolving from Perth Technical School in 1900 into a leading institution for art, design, and media. To celebrate this milestone, a series of events will showcase its lasting impact. Visitors can explore a poster trail highlighting Northbridge’s multi-cultural heritage, admire jewellery inspired by Perth’s historic architecture, and experience interactive 3D models of Art Deco landmarks. Fashion students will reimagine styles from the city’s iconic nightclubs, while a special art exhibition in Council House will trace the evolution of art and design education through the work of past graduates.
