Whether you need an instant refresh or want to start 2020 looking your best, one of the easiest ways to reboot your style is with some timeless new additions. The City of Perth is jam-packed with boutiques to help you on your way to creating the ultimate 2020 work and weekend wardrobe, here are my must have items!
The Classic White Shirt
Every working wardrobe needs a classic white shirt and if you already own one, then it’s probably time for a new one. Keep it simple with clean lines, minimal detailing and plain buttons. A crisp white shirt goes with everything in your wardrobe, from bright coloured patterns to minimal black. Tarocash in Watertown on Wellington Street stock men’s white shirts for under $100, while Marchesi Menswear on William Street in Northbridge offer made-to-measure shirts; there’s nothing like starting the year with a well fitted shirt. For the ladies, I highly recommend a slim fitted white shirt and Country Road on Murray Street has a selection of soft cotton shirts that are minimal and elegant. Less is more when it comes to this 2020 essential.

Black Pants
Another workwear staple that I guarantee you will wear time and time again, is the timeless black trouser. It’s easy to wear, covers dirt and is one of the ultimate investment pieces for men and women. GAZMAN in Watertown (and available in Myer) offers a classic men’s wool blend trouser that ticks all the comfort and style boxes, while ladies have the option to play with multiple lengths and cuts, think wide leg, cigarette leg, classic leg, cropped or culottes, the styles are endless. Slim leg black pants are big in 2020 and Cue is all over this style, head to Forrest Chase for a peek.
Anything Linen
I’m obsessed with linen, it’s perfect for Perth’s scorching heat and easy to throw on with any outfit. From men’s linen shirts from General Pants Co, to women’s linen dresses and jumpsuits from Sportsgirl (Forrest Chase), linen clothing is the 2020 go-to weekend style. Linen blend looks and feels just as amazing as 100 percent linen and is also available in a variety of colours, from black to orange and more.

Shorts
2020 is all about shorts and I love that stores are embracing longer length shorts. Shorts are uncomplicated, cool and an easy solution when it comes to weekend wear. You can’t go past the timeless denim short and Myer stocks a wide variety of denim brands including Levis’ who have embraced the longer length style for men and women. UNIQLO on Murray Street has also released a range of women’s relaxed shorts that include a high-waisted and longer-length style that is perfect for dressing up or down on the weekend.
